After both schools were signed up to the project and the teachers had introduced themselves, the children decided they wanted to get to know each other better by sending emails.

Here are some exerpts from the children's first letters:

• I am 10 years old. I have two pets and they are both cats . My eye colour eye is blue, my hair colour is black . My height is 1.43m and I am a boy . I can do headstands and do tricks at the same time . My favourite sport is Judo and I am an orange belt with one bar . I go to Backworth Park Primary and it starts at 8.55 to 3.15pm.

• I am a boy. I have 3 pets, one is a cat, one is a dog and one is a hamster. I have brown eyes and I have black/brown hair. My height is 1.48m. I go to Backworth Park Primary School and I am in year 6. I am going to high school in a couple of months.

• I am 11 years old and I go to Backworth Park Primary School and I am going to be 12 on January 6th. I am a very active person and I love sport, such as trampolining and swimming. My description would be blue eyes, dark blonde hair and very light coloured skin. I am going to be a big sister in June, I don't know if it's going to be a boy or a girl - my mum does not want to find out. I hope it is a boy because I have already got a step sister.

• We are Sergio and Manuel .We are tall and fat.We go to Virxe da Luz school. Sergio’s pets are dogs they are called Luna, Marelinta, Lista, Princesa, Chita, Ardilla and cats ,Michi, Rex, Lasi, and Laica. Manuel´s pets are dogs too. Their names are Nuca and Llusca and he has got cats Pinto, Negro and Messi. Sergio likes ice-creams but doesn’t like carrots. Manuel likes spaghetti but doesn’t like fish. Sergio and Manuel love playing football, tennis, basketball. Sergio lives with his family and has a sister called Yolanda. Manuel lives with one brother, two sisters and his parents.

• We are Nerea and Yasmina.We are 10 years old.We go to Vixe da Luz school Yasmina has got one sister her name is Jhilenia . Nerea has got one brother called Joel. Nerea and Yasmina have got big, brown and beautiful eyes and long , brown and weavy hair.. Nerea has got a one cat.Yasmina has got a one fish. We have the same hobbies, we like listening to music, dancing, signing and we like playing football. We love parties, reading books and in joy watching T.V. We are amusing.
